Eric's commitment and contribution to Kana's success extended far beyond my expectations. What I thought would be a standard board member relationship turned into much more. Upon joining our board in June, 1998, he immediately became an active member of the Kana team - bouncing from strategy sessions with the Kana executive team to meetings with the engineering staff to discuss software development challenges. At a moment's notice, Eric was willing to hop on a plane, evaluate a potential acquisition on the East coast, and be back in time to interview a potential key hire.

His commitment, however, was only a small part of his value to Kana. Having been involved with so many great companies in the past, Eric brought a set of experiences to the table unparalleled in the industry. There were numerous times when I would turn to Eric for advice and know that he had been in a similar situation in the past. In fact, there were a number of occasions when Eric would join me for negotiations with third parties and drive the discussions. When you combine these experiences with his calm demeanor, straightforward style and strong analytical approach, you end up with a world-class advisor/investor. I am privileged and honored to have had Eric involved with Kana.
